This girl from Nakivale camp wishes to go back to school

She says she fled Burundi after her father's assassination in 2019. U.E says she was in fifth form of primary school but would like to resume her studies. The 16-year-old girl is unable to continue her education at the moment because her mother is unable to pay her school fees.

Being unoccupied worries U.E. ‘’It is dangerous to stay here without any occupation. I am already 16 years old. It's complicated in the camp with these boys are running after me. I know they are not able to solve my problems'', warns U.E who emphasizes that she would like to go back to school if anyone could pay her schooling.

In the Nakivale refugee camp in Uganda, many Burundian parents have not been able to pay for their daughters' education since 2015, the year of the start of the recent socio-political crisis in Burundi.
